What a Stud

I must apologize, I couldn’t help myself with that title. Oh these loafers, these Jeffrey Campbell studded loafers. They are wonderful. I love a good loafer, and I’m more willing to spend a little extra on such a classic shoe. I already splurged on these, so I’m thinking a DIY version may be in order.

Here are a ton of other loafers if studs aren’t your thing:

Style Idol: Erin Wasson

I can safely say Erin Wasson is a total badass. The tattooed Victoria’s Secret model has perfected her messy sexy style and has layering down to a science. Her hair was ombre’d before ombre’d hair was a thing. It just happened that way. I had the pleasure of meeting her once and I must say, she is twice as awesome in person. She reeks of confidence and attitude, while still being laid back and cool.

Comic Style

I knew I had to eventually do a post that was equally about fashion and something nerdy.¬† I’ve always enjoyed comics, from the illustration and color schemes to the overall escape they bring. So I chose a few well known female superheroes (and a villain) and created looks inspired by those characters.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte

I love Rodarte, and I quite like Kirsten Dunst. I think this dress is absolutely beautiful and she wears it so well!

I love that the zipper is concealed for once, I’ve been getting tired of the exposed zipper trend that seems to be taking forever to fade out.

(On a completely random side note, I just watched All Good Things and Kristen Wiig’s character’s style is amazing. It’s the kind of 70’s style that I love, working on screencaps.)

Denim Jacket Love

It’s about 10 million degrees with 100% humidity and getting hotter way down here in New Orleans, but I am obsessing over denim jackets for some reason. Its such a classic piece, but edgy as well. So here are some beautiful people, in fabulous jackets.

The Vintage:

I love oversized 80’s/90’s denim anything, and I think this jacket is perfect paired with a simple tank and delicate skirt.

The Denim on Denim:

Via: Olivia Harrison

Denim on denim takes guts and a healthy dose of confidence, paired with some attitude, you’ve got one great outfit.

The Modern Style:

Via: Jessica Stein

I love the simple front and layered back of this cropped jacket, her simple black ensemble really lets it stand out.

The Classic:

Via: Sarah B.

Just your classic, simple, denim jacket perfectly paired with a flirty dress and adorable shoes.

The DIY:

Via: Lydia Rose

While this is a moto vest, it’s still denim, so it counts. I love the randomly placed studs, gems, buttons and cute bow.

Festival Ready

Summer music festivals have begun, and here in New Orleans we’re in the middle of JazzFest. I had to post this great outfit, featuring Dolce Vita metallic sandals.

Style Idol: The Glamourai

The Glamourai has been one of my favorite blogs for some time now, and her style has been such an inspiration to me. Her signature style is one that I totally admire. She perfectly mixes vintage aesthetic with contemporary design, and has a feminine edge to her look. (And she wears a lot of leopard print!) She has her own jewelry line¬† and was recently the face of Forever 21’s Twelve by Twelve line.

While most of her wardrobe consists of beautiful, high-end pieces; here is my attempt to recreate the Glamourai’s style for cheap!

Modern Shapes with Classic Patterns

I couldn’t quite think of a proper title for this. I’m speaking exclusively about modern shapes, but I’m loving those shapes with girly florals, pretty lace, bold prints, and of course; classic patterns. I know I’m being somewhat broad, but so what….I like it.

I think it all started when I saw Prada’s Spring 2011 collection and that striped skirt that has now become somewhat of a legend. And most of all, look at what it’s paired with. This is what I’m talking about, a bold top with hard lines. No draping, ruffles or frilly anything. It just has that beautiful classic baroque pattern, and paired with a bright, striking, fitted pencil skirt. It’s a new age of fashion. Miuccia herself called it “minimal baroque” which is the perfect way to describe what I’m thinking about but I couldn’t steal her description for my title now could I? Whoa run on sentence.

And then Stella McCartney had Spring 2011 RTW collection which featured bold colors and my favorite, that awesome fruit dress. Her Resort collection not long before that had similar pieces, but with huge floral patterns. I love the fruit.

But then I’m also loving these kind of pieces but with smaller florals and lace. I think it’s also more attainable. Like this:

Forever 21 has a great floral lace moto jacket, and I think it is the perfect piece to use to subtly mix patterns. The fitted jacket, fitted skirt, simple tights and sky high wedges are all in bright, classic colors and patterns.
