Fabulous: Irregular Choice

I’m a huge fan of Irregular Choice, I can’t get over their daring mixture of color and design. I’m in the mood to post some photos of their absolutely delicious footwear. They’ve got a really great Fall/Winter collection, you have no idea how hard it was to choose just a few to post. The top three are my absolute favorites, I love the oxford-meets-sweater design, the leopard print with a funky heel that reminds me of the leg of an old chair and the completely outrageous glittery heels adorned with scraps of fabric. So go now! Look and fall in love!

10 Fashionable Tweeters (that you should follow)!

I love Twitter. Not necessarily for the more mundane posts about people’s everyday activities. I like following my favorite stores, brands, celebs and most importantly, fashionistas!

So here (in no particular order) are ten of my favorite fashion-forward people to follow:

10. Susie Bubble

Susie Bubble is the edgy, eccentric, boundry-pushing gal behind Style Bubble. I like when bloggers are on Twitter, it’s a quick way to find out when they have a new post and a lot of more random things that aren’t necessarily blog-worthy but definitely Twitter-worthy.

9. Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott’s designs are arty, urban-inspired , and BRIGHT. He’s one of my favorite designers and his all caps Tweets can rival that of Kanye’s. He also has little bouts of inspiration that are pretty, well…..inspiring.

8. Dita Von Teese

Dita Von Teese is a burlesque queen and a fashion icon for those with classy, retro taste. Her tweets promote her upcoming shows, fashionable insight and absolutely gorgeous outfits.

7. The Budget Babe

The Budget Babe is a wonderful blog for the more frugally fashionable set. She tweets about blog posts, reviews, giveaways and one reason she is my favorite is because of how much she chats with her followers. She’s one to follow, even if you’re not on a budget.

6. Christian Siriano

The Project Runway winner and fashion phenom is one delightful Tweeter. A lot of his Tweets are about various celebs wearing his designs, photos from events and adorable posts about his adorable boyfriend.

5. Forever 21

We all know about Forever 21, the uber cheap and fashionable mega store.  But their Twitter is def worth following, not only will you be updated on new collections but there are some awesome giveaways. Keep up with their blog and lifestyle site, The Skinny and you’ll have a pretty good chance of scoring some great pieces in their Twitter Tuesday contests.

4. Lime Crime

Lime Crime is blogger Doe Deere’s cosmetics line. Bold, bright hues and eye catching colors make for some very interesting products. But the Lime Crime Twitter also links you to Doe Deere’s blog updates and you also get some Tweets from Doe’s friends/employees.

3.  Dani Stahl

Dani Stahl is Nylon Magazine’s style director and writer of their “Factory Girl” series in which Dani shows us what it’s like to spend a day with some of the most fashionable companies. Her Tweets are mostly those of an NYC socialite, which is still rather interesting.

2. Jean-Charles De Castelbajac

JC De Castelbajac has to be one of my absolute favorite fashion designers ever. My French isn’t the best, but I still enjoy following him. His cartoony, pop culture prints make for bright and shiny ensembles. Remember Lady Gaga’s dead Kermit jacket?

1. Jessica Stam

Jessica Stam is a Canadian-born supermodel who has been the face of Aldo, Dior, Gap, J. Crew and most recently Victoria’s Secret. It’s hard to walk through a mall (or down Rodeo Drive) and not see her face in a shop window. I love following her because she’s a quirky normal girl who loves her family, friends and the Simpsons,

Click each Tweet to be taken to that person’s Twitter profile!!!

Fab CAN Be Affordable

I’ve had an interest in fashion for quite some time. Though for a while I thought looking fabulous was reserved only for those with expendable income. The fashion world was made solely of Prada boots and Marc Jacobs skirts in my eyes. I wondered how I’d ever make it without winning the lottery and spending a few days cleaning out the racks at Nordstrom. In high school I wore strictly sale rack jeans, band tees and my ever-so-reliable Chuck Taylors. I did not look like someone who spent my nights reading Vogue and Nylon instead of doing homework.

Once I finally left for college and met the thrifty and fashionable people I was surrounded by in art school, I learned that fashion could come on a budget. Over the past couple of years I’ve perfected my “craft” and have ended up with a fabulous wardrobe of affordable clothing, even some designer pieces. Though of course, I still dream of having a box full of Louboutin’s arriving at my door and going on a shelf next to a rack of YSL, but I digress…

You’ve just got to be smart about it.  Its all very simple really; spend more money on versatile pieces that will work from season to season and budget yourself on trendy pieces. Don’t buy things just because they’re on sale. Sure that horrendous sweater may be $3, but it’s three dollars for a reason, you’ll probably never wear it, and if you do it’s still a horrendous sweater. Just. Put. It. Back. It’s boring and somewhat annoying at times, but scouring thrift stores and checking out sample sales will really help you out. There are tons of budget fashion blogs out there as well, offering tip and tricks for the savvy shopper.. My absolute fave is The Budget Babe.

I wanted to toss together a couple Day-to-Night outfits that consist of affordable pieces. I know, the whole transitioning outfit thing is in every magazine and on every blog, but I’m taking a stab at it.

Abstract prints have been everywhere this Summer, and this dress is only twelve dollars. You can be on trend and keep it affordable. With a print like this, the dress is the focal point of the outfit. Its perfect for hot Summer days when paired with an adorable flat and shiny bangle, then great for a night out with a simple cropped blazer and pump. I think the slits on the pump work well with the stripes on the dress, keeping the look whole without being too much. Everything is $102.45 total, being enough for two outfits with four of the 5 pieces being extremely versatile long-wearing pieces. Layer some necklaces you already own and pair with that black bag you’ve got hanging in the back of your closet and you’re good to go.

ASOS Cropped Blazer $47.17  (on sale)

Forever 21 Knit Dress $11.50

Old Navy Flats $12.99 (on sale)

Old Navy Bangle $5.99

Forever 21 Peep Toe Pump $24.80

At my job, a simple all black outfit is uniform. It can be tough to look chic when you get off work at 5 and have to rush to dinner at 5:30. This outfit is very simple, with only four pieces. Lets take a fitted v-neck tee and skinny black trousers, which is a simple all-black outfit perfect for those of us who have such a uniform. Or for those who like a chic monochromatic look. Here they are paired with two statement pieces that you could easily bring along with you. A bold statement necklace is my go-to piece for livening up an outfit. This long silver necklace will follow the shape of the neck well and break up the outfit. The bright red shoe is a colorful accompaniment and the silver zipper matches the necklace, which keeps the whole look pulled together. Both the necklace and shoes have a sort Art Nouveau look to them, or is that just me? Add a clutch or keep your everyday handbag with this one, but keep it simple. Let the shoes and necklace do their job. This outfit is $114.79 total, with the trousers making up most of the price. A simple black trouser is easy to find anywhere, but I absolutely love these boyfriend fit trousers from Gap. And I think if its something you’re going to wear a lot, sixty dollars isn’t too out there.

Gap Trousers $59.50

Forever 21 V-Neck Tee $8.80

ASOS Zip Front Shoe $33.69 (on sale)

Forever 21 Necklace $12.80

Fabulous! Daphne Guinness for NARS

Daphne Guinness is one of my style idols! (Hmm, maybe a post on that soon?) But for now, she’s the new face of NARS Cosmetics.

Their Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection goes on sale July 15. The collection includes a new shadow, “Guinness” which is the gorgeous purple color she’s wearing in the above photo. I hope to see more photos from this campaign soon.

To Die For: Christian Louboutin Fall/Winter 2011

[I know I know, I had a bit of a hiatus. I even missed my blog’s 1 year anniversary in March. But I’m back now and hopefully I’ll be able to post more often than I did before. So onward!!!]

I keep thinking of the Lightbulb heel from a couple years ago.

I love this dreamy, whimsical campaign by Peter Lippman. It’s an excellent way to show off one hell of a collection. Christian Louboutin never ceases to amaze me (or most of the fashion-loving world for that matter).

Can I have this fish tank?

But now, on to the shoes!

I want to sell my car and buy a few pairs of these. I may start to rely on public transportation in the name of fashion. I may also be the only person ever to wear brand new Loub’s on the New Orleans streetcar….which is totally fine with me.

My faves are the Lili Marlene, Bibi, Dorepi, Lipspikes, Bridget’s Back and Pigalili. I know there are plenty more to the collection, (including some denim and brown leather booties that I just really don’t want to admit are Loub’s…..sorry! And the leather boots with studs on the toe, which are gorgeous!) but those are my faves out of what I’ve posted.

I thought a much closer look at the Dorepi was needed. Just stare at this for a moment, really let it sink in. The thin, spike heel and curve of the shoe with the small toe and delicate chain on the back highlighted by the classic red bottom. This shoe alone will give me a fetish.

Gaga/McQueen Fabulousness

I am loving the video for Lady Gaga’s newest single “Bad Romance.” It’s so risquè, edgy and fabulous. Lady Gaga is known for her avant garde music videos and style; “Bad Romance” most definitely does not dissapoint. I also happen to love Alexander McQueen’s extravagant designs from his Spring 2010 runway show, where a demo of the song premiered. So of course, the video is filled with McQueen/Gaga fabulousness. You could almost make a drinking game out of spotting the McQueen.

The video starts with Gaga in the gorgeous gold dress, which I personally think fits and looks better on her than the model. Maybe it’s the hair?

She wears the curvy, bone-like, ridculously tall platforms with her infamous plastic dress, and again in black at the very end of the video.

Around the middle she struts in head to toe McQueen. Well, I don’t think “strut” is exactly the word for how one would walk in McQueen’s lobster claw shoes. I think “stumble” is a tad more appropriate. But the video is absolutely fabulous nonetheless.

 So, did I miss anything?

Christopher Kane for Topshop

I’ve been awaiting the arrival of Christopher Kane for Topshop, and now it is here. Nearly everything has embellishments, gems, or eyelets. There’s a sweet bodycon dress with an awesome pattern, mesh sandals, and a fluorescent pink bodysuit.  Overall, I really love the collection. With prices ranging from $60-$360; it’s edgy, fashionable and affordable. Get it here.

There were a few looks from the CFDA awards that I just could not resist posting.

057mCoco Rocha is one of my fave models. I think she looks wonderful in this Michael Kors one-shouldered dress. I’m loving her neutral makeup and dark hair. The shoes aren’t too bad either.

143mAshley Olsen and her orange dress have been all over the blogosphere today. Some have been saying it’s very 80’s, but I’m getting a 70’s vibe from it. I think the fit and details are gorgeous, it also elongates her frame.

117mIt was love at first sight when I checked out the Rodarte’s Fall 2009 collection. (Laura and Kate Mulleavy took Womenswear Designer of the Year. Yay!) Kirsten Dunst’s dark eyes and those (superfab) Nicholas Kirkwood shoes bring a hint of black to this grey and silver beauty of an outfit.

078mRounding out the Fab 4 is Diane Kruger in her oh-so-fab Jason Wu dress. Diane Kruger has killer style and I would love nothing more than to get my hands on this dress. The dress is very simple and clean, but the detailed shoulders and bright color (including the clutch) really make it pop. She’s very chic, but I’d also love to see this dress paired with Ashley Olsen’s makeup and Coco Rocha’s hair for a more edgy look.

Yes, I am an Olsen fan. I was always more of a Mary Kate fan, her look has always been a bit more edgy than Ashley’s…

MET Costume Institute Gala: My Favorites

Last night was the MET Costume Institute Gala where Marc Jacobs was the honorary chair and the “theme” I guess you could say, was The Model As Muse. After drooling over all of the photos from the event, I’ve picked my favorites.

Anne Hathaway in Marc Jacobs
Anne Hathaway in Marc Jacobs

I love Anne Hathaway’s whole look, from her slicked back hair to her makeup to her silver shoes. I also think the Marc Jacobs dress is gorgeous, I am in love with the color.
