Gareth Pugh in Live Studio

I just stumbled upon this video of Gareth Pugh’s Live Studio session from back in November. He constructs a dress from start to finish over the course of three days. I was in awe while watching him work. I can’t believe I didn’t see this sooner! The creation of this slashed, black dress seemed so so so tedious.  You never think of how much goes into the making of some clothing until you see it happen. I was inspired watching him cut every little slit and measuring the fabric. He went at it half technical and half “what the hell,”  which ended with a gorgeous, flowing, skin-tight gown. The video below features Raquel Zimmermann wearing the gown and dancing to Lady Gaga. It’s as fabulous as it is funny.

Gaga/McQueen Fabulousness

I am loving the video for Lady Gaga’s newest single “Bad Romance.” It’s so risquè, edgy and fabulous. Lady Gaga is known for her avant garde music videos and style; “Bad Romance” most definitely does not dissapoint. I also happen to love Alexander McQueen’s extravagant designs from his Spring 2010 runway show, where a demo of the song premiered. So of course, the video is filled with McQueen/Gaga fabulousness. You could almost make a drinking game out of spotting the McQueen.

The video starts with Gaga in the gorgeous gold dress, which I personally think fits and looks better on her than the model. Maybe it’s the hair?

She wears the curvy, bone-like, ridculously tall platforms with her infamous plastic dress, and again in black at the very end of the video.

Around the middle she struts in head to toe McQueen. Well, I don’t think “strut” is exactly the word for how one would walk in McQueen’s lobster claw shoes. I think “stumble” is a tad more appropriate. But the video is absolutely fabulous nonetheless.

 So, did I miss anything?

Top 10 Most Fashionable Frontwomen

Female musicians are some of the most confident and best dressed women out there. Many musicians, male and female alike, are admired for the way they dress. Some women not only captivate their audience with their music, but with their stage presence and choice of clothing. Others just have a great sense of style, regardless of whether or not they’re performing or just showing up for an interview. Some also bring their eccentric stage style to the street. (Lady Gaga, I’m talking about you.) For this list, I’ve picked my ten favorite women based on the way they dress while performing.

I’m gonna start off with #10, if you like what you see, click the link for the rest!

#10 Lady Gaga

I debated whether or not to include Lady Gaga in this list. Her style is pretty controversial. One minute she’s being applauded for her avant garde, eccentric style, the next she’s being called crazy and tacky. It’s definitely love/hate with Lady Gaga, but she keeps it interesting. I like that she’s out there, it only adds to her performance. I would prefer if her street style were a bit different. It’s becoming almost predictable, we know when she leaves the house a leotard and glitter will most likely be involved. But, for the sake of an awesome live performance and something unique on stage, she makes my list.
